It's crazy how fast his first little year went by. Micah is doing phenomenal. He is <span style="font-weight: normal; font-style: italic; ">so</span> close to walking and took his first official step last Friday (3/16/12). He's quite the talker; his absolute favorite word is "ball" (anything that is remotely round is a ball) closely followed by Dada, Mama, Jada (he's only said it a couple times so far & it sounds like "Day-duh") and baby. As of just a couple days ago, he loves pointing at babies or photos of babies (including himself and Jada as a baby) and saying "baby, baby, baby". I'm currently trying to teach him to give kisses to babies. :-)<br /><br />He's fully mastered the art of signing "please" and "thank you", which I'm very proud of; my boy has learned some manners! Whoo hoo! Now to just keep it up... :-)<br /><br />He adores his big sister and just lights up whenever she enters the room.<br /><br />His favorite activity is probably taking a bath; his splashes are quite impressive and although he can barely breathe when he really gets going (as water is pouring into his eyes and shooting up his nose), it's quite obvious that he's very proud of himself. He also enjoys throwing balls, rolling balls, and just identifying any balls in the vicinity. :-)<br /><br />He hasn't had any seizures since June and we are just praising the Lord for His incredible healing. We are so blessed by our little guy.<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 100%; "><b>Micah with Mommy right after his birthday party</b></span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzbskoQoFdmfcJjmV74aKzCsn3UA6-Lk_XGPgGrjm-LYSR7d4OQflFQRjLcXQVYuZ5MKjiguFzU-9nPr7tF-xZbhSQSmJ1YicmBiJXhsFE5cF1QXOX7Z0VyLQWjHH9ykCBf1zIte_F5dk/s1600/IMG_2472.JPG" style="font-weight: normal; Her first class was this morning. She is in love with it. After class, she told me all about how her "teacher taught her how to do gymnastics" and she "met lots of new friends". <br /><br />Once we arrived home, she promptly started dancing in the kitchen and informed me that she was doing "gymnastics". After about 5 minutes of intense dancing, she said, "Mommy, I'm exhausted" (yes, she used the word exhausted), then walked over to the couch, laid down, placed her head on the throw pillow, placed the blanket on top of her, then asked asked to watch "Lord of the Beans" (a Veggie Tale movie). ha ha. I think it's safe to say that gymnastics class actually wore her out! :-)<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHD4S6OOgLT4I_yIfY34Xs_4oIwlSZARcoQ61RPXy7NsKgKc6nXJFo9BCv-foe_UWZTrrSIL8MR0mWsZnM4YFdis8bx1IE1wZuVjDGwQVSR6WhC8kTH1_Zln7O8ni0HODOWpHoN6Yw9xs/s1600/Gymnastics+5.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHD4S6OOgLT4I_yIfY34Xs_4oIwlSZARcoQ61RPXy7NsKgKc6nXJFo9BCv-foe_UWZTrrSIL8MR0mWsZnM4YFdis8bx1IE1wZuVjDGwQVSR6WhC8kTH1_Zln7O8ni0HODOWpHoN6Yw9xs/s320/Gymnastics+5.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695898896166494082" /></a><br /><br />Running laps for warm up<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidSWZkiBJYkx0h-8jTfDE-KJqcICiL1yY7mGd20u8YH7kExSKdrCaFHgxQd4WzirqYdg0MPKOmcURQZzrs5Zn2WNv8jygrGHwFX7P-q9VwLY4Ij6orhIkDTH8IOeBGR9heV4RTYmhrOUtL/s1600/Gymnastics+1.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidSWZkiBJYkx0h-8jTfDE-KJqcICiL1yY7mGd20u8YH7kExSKdrCaFHgxQd4WzirqYdg0MPKOmcURQZzrs5Zn2WNv8jygrGHwFX7P-q9VwLY4Ij6orhIkDTH8IOeBGR9heV4RTYmhrOUtL/s320/Gymnastics+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695898391135259634" /></a><br /><br />Waiting on a dot for her turn<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_5ofZrEGyKvhNxrCRtxOFk5FNevd_vwFyQDDNSrWTo4OMvGjBOj4Y1Z0veLToMcqMSXXyS7a2SQ3ngXt1oBiFCGlUgNTu_UsfK95WkmlpwSOv41Fo1tnbkPeKdOuKAOKagasp-O_VKPA/s1600/Gymnastics+4.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_5ofZrEGyKvhNxrCRtxOFk5FNevd_vwFyQDDNSrWTo4OMvGjBOj4Y1Z0veLToMcqMSXXyS7a2SQ3ngXt1oBiFCGlUgNTu_UsfK95WkmlpwSOv41Fo1tnbkPeKdOuKAOKagasp-O_VKPA/s320/Gymnastics+4.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695898832319269842" /></a><br /><br />Walking the balance beam<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTWQuk_2FgQ1u6zur4r4e347h64N7Vb2TemJ87TJtAXys1IJztCHBxm5jU7IZ_ytE_c-cQhRluOWxdimVDBBsoEOCTYkpgoWoPswBPBjULU40O_qmav-nc9yPFm_tvv3heL2MHO_vPqwc/s1600/Gymnastics+3.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTWQuk_2FgQ1u6zur4r4e347h64N7Vb2TemJ87TJtAXys1IJztCHBxm5jU7IZ_ytE_c-cQhRluOWxdimVDBBsoEOCTYkpgoWoPswBPBjULU40O_qmav-nc9yPFm_tvv3heL2MHO_vPqwc/s320/Gymnastics+3.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695898708613879986" /></a><br /><br />Just a snapshot of the room<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6BafwusmwAOUMs-rJj-03kmwOozsKuJaPnCowAd9t58L2-MEiUe9rV173NrpeMqgsRnqzBbBzbVGzzkZV-K_0gkzqBpB8VS0XZl4t-7BXG1Sc2uZeTKBuVhDFWFqTKPv6vC-lX6z4tY7Q/s1600/Gymnastics+2.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6BafwusmwAOUMs-rJj-03kmwOozsKuJaPnCowAd9t58L2-MEiUe9rV173NrpeMqgsRnqzBbBzbVGzzkZV-K_0gkzqBpB8VS0XZl4t-7BXG1Sc2uZeTKBuVhDFWFqTKPv6vC-lX6z4tY7Q/s320/Gymnastics+2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695898453471119426" /></a><br /><br /><br />And here are a couple of videos... can you tell that she loves structured activity? The past 3 years have been such a blessing and we are incredibly thankful that God chose us to be her parents. <br /><br />We celebrated by going out to dinner to Red Robin tonight, as a family. Both of the kids were fantastic. Here are some fun photos of our family along with a video of everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to her. So fun!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjukQsNhtCnagnk6QeWz2MPdGfSmJAwCOo-xdtMDdkhUybqX9QCZeMUj0iCs0mElrlrVown0WAVO0rY11775h13uAHnP-RsnLKkILyCvYw2gQ7V5nQj5Vh8jT6zVIWw-n_JCx5Y25MOOgc/s1600/Jada+Dinner+1.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjukQsNhtCnagnk6QeWz2MPdGfSmJAwCOo-xdtMDdkhUybqX9QCZeMUj0iCs0mElrlrVown0WAVO0rY11775h13uAHnP-RsnLKkILyCvYw2gQ7V5nQj5Vh8jT6zVIWw-n_JCx5Y25MOOgc/s320/Jada+Dinner+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5688467892436833554" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRp2r8ElelOwChU8Qz5Xi7kBu7pO7GD8tFTT1DOUwT2QB_swzfrtchB9DB6KK14H2HpGEeaBK4bAPYlsogLOKsS3xmSnKtijjSEXYauj6ojzsMkDVgt4nf1s4MXwl1sAHIR9uYmod2acc/s1600/Jada+dinner+2"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRp2r8ElelOwChU8Qz5Xi7kBu7pO7GD8tFTT1DOUwT2QB_swzfrtchB9DB6KK14H2HpGEeaBK4bAPYlsogLOKsS3xmSnKtijjSEXYauj6ojzsMkDVgt4nf1s4MXwl1sAHIR9uYmod2acc/s320/Jada+dinner+2" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5688468006527879730" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpTFst5MIfaNx34vjEQvkX5qeIrdiurFieCQGBzSOjyWYbFZU_7psySebpThogf4-QKo6PAMpkWkeCIgauPFvZPrWkotm1FsgHzzFSd3KpMSXhjVDd_N0-ULf6LM_Qm3z25A8DoPNZkjI/s1600/photo+3+%25281%2529.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpTFst5MIfaNx34vjEQvkX5qeIrdiurFieCQGBzSOjyWYbFZU_7psySebpThogf4-QKo6PAMpkWkeCIgauPFvZPrWkotm1FsgHzzFSd3KpMSXhjVDd_N0-ULf6LM_Qm3z25A8DoPNZkjI/s320/photo+3+%25281%2529.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5688468089148162434" /></a><br /><br /><br /><iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rOYuAppmV6o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-23198685568048731712011-12-16T22:12:00.000-08:002011-12-16T22:28:39.195-08:00Jada's 3rd Birthday Party!Miss Jada is turning 3 years old in just a few days. I can't believe how fast time is flying. <br /><br />We had a little birthday party for her at our house last Saturday (12/10/11). Because she loves Dora the Explorer and has an equal, if not greater, love for crafts, we decided to throw a Dora themed party with "decorate your own backpack" activity. So fun. Here are pictures from her party. <br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDmGSqtIJEeDrbL-RGkja5rvOviTn0RYj3KY6AWt3lKGNE8kpwPL7LMoCgtm-15OZfCNiws6cWgTVeiC6f7xu20KkLV3ACW16aJJVhI000mYyMt3QoGR3YCzunCHKYv3FuFeYcD43vHHQ/s1600/DSC01815.JPG"><img style="display:block; We're SO proud of her!!!<br /><br />Last Wednesday morning (8/31), Jada told me that she wanted to wear her Dora underwear. Immediately, all plans were cancelled for the rest of the week and we started potty training! We are so, so excited that she doesn't want to wear diapers anymore. I think she's been physically ready for a while, but she's a little strong-willed (I have no idea where she got that from... ha ha), so we were just waiting for HER to make the decision that she was ready. <br /><br />We started Potty Training Boot Camp on Wednesday morning and pretty much just stayed home for the next 6 days. Thursday morning, <a href="http://buckyfamily.blogspot.com/">Tracy</a> and her sweet girls came over for a play date, which was awesome. I get stir crazy very easily (which is why the kids and I usually go somewhere almost every day). It was great to have another mommy over to hang out with and to help hold Micah for me when I had to run Jada to the bathroom a couple of times. <br /><br />On Friday night, we met the <a href="http://themarsons.blogspot.com/">Marson </a>family, at a park for dinner. It was perfect. So wonderful to spend time with friends AND a safe, outdoor place to visit during potty training. :-)<br /><br />Jada had about 4 accidents the first day, 2/day for the next few days then NONE yesterday or today!!! Whoo hoo! She is doing fabulous.<br /><br />Here's a little look at Potty Training Boot Camp... a painting station, a "picnic" lunch in the living room, the classy potty chair in the middle of the room & Micah just hanging out trying to suck on his toes. Pretty hardcore training, huh? :-)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh55uEB_to-4dPyReqsE47DdK8YVFEG4ngOyJncSEsSH7Ftzq7ODWNE8IzEtKVE9Zn7BK16NKd_JAj-a3ALgapoJ6kx4oOkb9Xa15QLyu9eEE5MTBjgd-wkfF00I-U9G-QoQid_E65e9wQ/s1600/Potty+Training+Boot+Camp.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh55uEB_to-4dPyReqsE47DdK8YVFEG4ngOyJncSEsSH7Ftzq7ODWNE8IzEtKVE9Zn7BK16NKd_JAj-a3ALgapoJ6kx4oOkb9Xa15QLyu9eEE5MTBjgd-wkfF00I-U9G-QoQid_E65e9wQ/s400/Potty+Training+Boot+Camp.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649121547157149378" /></a><br /><br />Also... today was Jada's "First Day of (home)School"! I started a few days before Micah was born and had a few scattered lessons during the spring (then took the whole summer off), but now we're officially starting. My friend, <a href="http://mattandbrianne.blogspot.com/">Brianne</a> and I are following the same curriculum (which is awesome because I need someone to hold me accountable with the lesson planning!) for our kiddos. The plan is to have a 20-30 min. lesson every Mon., Wed., & Fri. morning. I'm going to try to coordinate that with Micah's morning nap... we'll see how successful that is! :-)<br /><br />Jada really thrives on structure (again... I wonder where she got that from... ha ha!) and I'm looking forward to having a scheduled, intentional one-on-one time with her. She absolutely loves it. She even invited her friend <a href="http://bustamante622.blogspot.com/">Fiona</a> to school tonight. "Nona, you want to go to school with Jada tomorrow?" (I might just have to throw in an extra day of school this week because she's so excited about it!) :-) <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbzd9qq6yWRClKuL_JYmTtH54AfXc_B89M647HSFKRUWEQfTRtHxHTSAAppQMZtdDlLbOtSyD3zSmIv2ZROBTP7GtAzZ3nYCe4EJ8lbK0QaSd7-QiCktDX5T7hviC7Q1TX1bG_J-mflow/s1600/Jada+School+1.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbzd9qq6yWRClKuL_JYmTtH54AfXc_B89M647HSFKRUWEQfTRtHxHTSAAppQMZtdDlLbOtSyD3zSmIv2ZROBTP7GtAzZ3nYCe4EJ8lbK0QaSd7-QiCktDX5T7hviC7Q1TX1bG_J-mflow/s400/Jada+School+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649124899232997186" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWU8nonH44DHA-ssgcZB3OJEEoNXLQSJaSD8h2IMy1F-t4vrSo_qCiJpMH548u4ctn_biGBoFLqr3RYRLS3ydD5UPiiCUUd2WcuBTYA87Up-LP0M_JFL-LTSvU8vP0xqz7OH1XYF1S9Ro/s1600/Jada+School+2.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWU8nonH44DHA-ssgcZB3OJEEoNXLQSJaSD8h2IMy1F-t4vrSo_qCiJpMH548u4ctn_biGBoFLqr3RYRLS3ydD5UPiiCUUd2WcuBTYA87Up-LP0M_JFL-LTSvU8vP0xqz7OH1XYF1S9Ro/s400/Jada+School+2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649124991435998242" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-58115143220028409872011-09-01T23:03:00.000-07:002011-09-01T23:09:05.228-07:006 Months Old<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirmLhDlUhwitne9TSE_6O9HJvNUATwVTaqCjkst_pN6-Tst4uPo0B9DhUA_Z3Qc0QvaeFtqcf4J8QppC0mRQKCrxX4kPQtPJt4MurFay7HNg1rcT1QSsJ324fX2B9a6ZdAcM32oHUhCs4/s1600/Micah+6+months+not+sepia.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 290px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirmLhDlUhwitne9TSE_6O9HJvNUATwVTaqCjkst_pN6-Tst4uPo0B9DhUA_Z3Qc0QvaeFtqcf4J8QppC0mRQKCrxX4kPQtPJt4MurFay7HNg1rcT1QSsJ324fX2B9a6ZdAcM32oHUhCs4/s400/Micah+6+months+not+sepia.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647640251151520194" /></a>

<br />One of my favorite pictures of Jada is her 5-month old shot that I took in front of our neighborhood playground. I thought it would be fun to take a similar picture of Micah, since he's 5-months old, in the same location.

We met our friends Becky, David & Garrett and had a wonderful time together. We said hello to some fun animals in the barns, played in the children's area, sat on some huge tractors & even enjoyed a little picnic for lunch (Jada is REALLY into picnics right now). Not to mention, it's a beautiful, sunny day today - couldn't have asked for a better afternoon!<br /><br />Here are some cute pictures of our adventure: <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWcprjF-Shuep6akN0Pgt6KZT93uaONW9fFCoJejU5S46YA1VEBBRlbcnTJ6Eu3sCs2hOuyWrYKLDUQZylN7_C2m4JoYPw3-i0VyXAOdc7LYzjA4_QVW6Q_S-Rjeyl1koCdObYHvIwUQ8/s1600/Sitting+in+tractor.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWcprjF-Shuep6akN0Pgt6KZT93uaONW9fFCoJejU5S46YA1VEBBRlbcnTJ6Eu3sCs2hOuyWrYKLDUQZylN7_C2m4JoYPw3-i0VyXAOdc7LYzjA4_QVW6Q_S-Rjeyl1koCdObYHvIwUQ8/s400/Sitting+in+tractor.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634543461500312466" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw0TGvd9g_tVVU4seokDR1Vi2QTPTeKojzHG9LFaEUwlLOi5G_PFH83yRPFSrN__qSe0uy9IWnrQOp1T2f-fMKRGEjVDu-MDr9FwLONh8g_tbtxUFS6QAW1cdQ1W_j00wO8YnjQHc7F7U/s1600/playing+with+ducks+%2526+water.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw0TGvd9g_tVVU4seokDR1Vi2QTPTeKojzHG9LFaEUwlLOi5G_PFH83yRPFSrN__qSe0uy9IWnrQOp1T2f-fMKRGEjVDu-MDr9FwLONh8g_tbtxUFS6QAW1cdQ1W_j00wO8YnjQHc7F7U/s400/playing+with+ducks+%2526+water.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634543378132852610" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWTgbRYAx8uM6_SYlHAappKI5d9y0TexqacO1sm8Io4bFw-BFB3v71fWWRDllU1vjwlTZdTJ6lTB7KCID60E36jlBlwIp_-9eHQvmTLNIQ0d5UC5P1P96qK6HvxgO7zl9CC5IoEeKxdmI/s1600/%252522sand%252522box+of+dried+corn.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWTgbRYAx8uM6_SYlHAappKI5d9y0TexqacO1sm8Io4bFw-BFB3v71fWWRDllU1vjwlTZdTJ6lTB7KCID60E36jlBlwIp_-9eHQvmTLNIQ0d5UC5P1P96qK6HvxgO7zl9CC5IoEeKxdmI/s400/%252522sand%252522box+of+dried+corn.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634543303551688802" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYNWm_dMbOlJ0HMvgtA1QNStO068qNLlfSbeQyu_YWk6cUZuchGlZdWNMNr4QT0n6hNtv55edFUqyxso7CIeGRHfvmwpTt4B8hWnpo5NB1fi30XIxw1Yh8reHKQJQkWbDR5L01g8tKW2k/s1600/Roosters.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYNWm_dMbOlJ0HMvgtA1QNStO068qNLlfSbeQyu_YWk6cUZuchGlZdWNMNr4QT0n6hNtv55edFUqyxso7CIeGRHfvmwpTt4B8hWnpo5NB1fi30XIxw1Yh8reHKQJQkWbDR5L01g8tKW2k/s400/Roosters.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634543219331786114" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1fz3njFPDYdg0jlzy7ZpKQRIzo4kW_hVmtJNb-H38NkQVLyiOiv2SC2L-lXAjdhkvkUFHy2_tijXiIEiASYbjxkDogfNyl-I8ahg631weUFQ-Ku01ABQF2g_xzbL0f9LhB3L0O1YT6Nw/s1600/Loving+the+cows.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1fz3njFPDYdg0jlzy7ZpKQRIzo4kW_hVmtJNb-H38NkQVLyiOiv2SC2L-lXAjdhkvkUFHy2_tijXiIEiASYbjxkDogfNyl-I8ahg631weUFQ-Ku01ABQF2g_xzbL0f9LhB3L0O1YT6Nw/s400/Loving+the+cows.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634543106718342066" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbWN89Qc2kQtzpIRhEjDfa0TskTrCj0flsaKjW_JUM56lmHY4c07vjhhMulivSGtAmmNUdaa5RZp9JBPYwYrl4SXOvcgBwyP603c9GbD-UWvCB9_zQPVIv2QMJs1jDQbb-PHDCteFOLvE/s1600/Jada+with+Sheep.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbWN89Qc2kQtzpIRhEjDfa0TskTrCj0flsaKjW_JUM56lmHY4c07vjhhMulivSGtAmmNUdaa5RZp9JBPYwYrl4SXOvcgBwyP603c9GbD-UWvCB9_zQPVIv2QMJs1jDQbb-PHDCteFOLvE/s400/Jada+with+Sheep.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634542590404540498" /></a><br /><br />Jada LOVED moo'ing with the cows. He is doing well on his medication. We're still figuring out the best dosage for him; we want to give him the lowest possible dose, but obviously need it to be effective. Unfortunately, that means that he's been having a few seizures here and there during this transition time. </div><div><br /></div><div>Emotionally, it's very tough because I know that my baby could have a seizure at any moment and all I can do is hold him, make sure he's breathing, pray for it to stop, try to concentrate on the symptoms so that I can report it to his neurologist, time it (to make sure it doesn't last longer than 5 min.), then just comfort him when he comes back and is upset afterwards. Definitely a trial. <div><br /></div><div>However, I am incredibly thankful that we have this medication and an amazing pediatric neurologist and pediatrician who genuinely care about my son. Most of all, I'm thankful for the opportunity that this has given us to grow closer to God and to completely trust Him. This experience has made me realize, more than any other time in my life, that I don't have control over what's going on. I don't understand why this is happening. I can't make it go away. Our only comfort is that God sees the big picture when we don't and He has only good plans for us. </div><div><br /></div><div><i>Romans 8:28 - "We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called, according to His purpose."</i></div><div><i><br /></i></div><div><i>Jeremiah 29:11 - "'For I know the plans I have for you', declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"</i></div><div><i><br /></i></div><div><i>Hebrews 2:18 - "Since He himself (Jesus), has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested."</i></div><div><br /></div></div><div>I'm so grateful that we're not in this alone. I can't wait to see how God uses this; may He be glorified!</div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxgq69OTWMvNTIFMELIHaVT_CYkpqaCCF8ntyQxFURKTqki5ZNdH3BKMuNHnueqPsAuPL7y5M2onKqj81tqpFd8E7UGYWosKRndf9NsNLCl4WzUFSdEp-40NtRKiKxY33sRo_kqzkX0_A/s1600/Micah+Smile.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 124px; height: 166px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxgq69OTWMvNTIFMELIHaVT_CYkpqaCCF8ntyQxFURKTqki5ZNdH3BKMuNHnueqPsAuPL7y5M2onKqj81tqpFd8E7UGYWosKRndf9NsNLCl4WzUFSdEp-40NtRKiKxY33sRo_kqzkX0_A/s400/Micah+Smile.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623051666831028594" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-70010177599606963992011-06-14T19:11:00.000-07:002011-06-14T19:23:41.885-07:00God is in Control<div>Last weekend, I noticed that Micah's face started twitching a little when he was sleeping in his swing. It just lasted about 15 seconds or so, and honestly, I thought that he was just in an active state of sleep. You know how during REM sleep, your eyes move around (thus the name "rapid eye movement", ha ha)? And sometimes babies sleep with their eyes halfway open (kinda weird looking, but it happens)? Well, that's what I thought it was at first.</div><div><br /> <div></div><div></div><div>A couple of days later, he did it again, but this time the mouth twitching was more pronounced. I started to get worried enough to grab my phone & record a short video of it. I figured that I'd just run it by his pediatrician at his 4 month appointment, which was only a couple of weeks out. As the week went on, it happened twice more and we started to take it more seriously. I had seizures when I was a newborn (very newly born, actually... about 1 week old) and we wanted to make sure that these little twitches weren't actually seizures. The last one occurred at about 8pm on Friday evening, so I waited until his pediatrician's office opened the next morning at 9am. I left a message stating pretty much everything I said above. As I heard myself audibly explain what was going on, I think the gravity of the situation hit me and I started crying on the voicemail. After about 15 min, the nurse called me back and told me to go straight to the ER. Not St. Vincent's ER (our hospital), but the ER at Emanuel Children's Hospital. Immediately.</div><div></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>Only 5 hours after I had first called his doctor's office, I was sitting across from one of the best pediatric neurologists in Oregon and she was viewing that video of Micah on my phone. Think about that for a minute. How blessed are we? Seriously. If we were in a 3rd world country, we would just have to watch our son continually have seizures and not have access to this kind of medical help. We are so, so incredibly blessed!</div><div><br /></div><div></div><div></div><div>After an EEG, which confirmed that he most likely did have a seizure recently, she prescribed phenobarbital and he had his first dose via IV at 5:30pm. (It took 6 attempts to place the IV; a little hard for Mommy to watch, to say the least). As thankful as I am that we have this medication, if you know Gabe and I very well, you know that we take medication very, very seriously and only take it if absolutely necessary. It was really hard to give our 3 month old a medication that effects his brain. The thing about seizures, though, is that they beget more seizures. If we didn't treat it, his little developing brain would very likely continue to have more intense and frequent seizures; it would develop a repeating pattern that the brain would accept as "normal" behavior, therefore, reproducing that pattern over and over again. The medication prevents the seizures by calming that overactive brain activity and tells the brain that not having seizures is normal (instead of the brain thinking that seizures are normal). </div><div></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>We've actually decided to switch the medication to something more mild and which has substantially fewer side effects. The goal is to completely wean him off of medication in 6-12 months. About 50% of children grow out of seizures, of which I was part of that 50% and my seizures were more extreme and started at a younger age. We are 100% confident that God is in control and absolutely knows what's going on. He has an incredible plan for little Micah's life and our prayer is that little Micah would be a bright light shining God's power and compassion into the world. </div><div></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>Micah and I came home from the hospital at about 4pm on Sunday evening (Gabe cancelled his business trip and stayed home with Jada, took care of the house, visited us, and was such an amazing support to me over the weekend). We decided to go to the Sunday Night Celebration service at church that night. As we were singing, "God, You are mighty to save, mighty to save", I started crying. He is SO mighty to save. Thank you, God, for saving us. </div></div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Daddy & Jada visited Mommy & Baby Micah at the hospital</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs2WeBh_5vZW3l7PWx7PEvpkohH86rG1h7Wdr3kYV4H5A24wQmUu48yhbm6wbQjLJvMBBMOYh8Yn5TLNBMd6j5rxLf6n9ZAmKNMjuBxE4KGV8eiJfmGYZi-7D7QktmnPre45tK7TU1com7/s1600/photo1.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs2WeBh_5vZW3l7PWx7PEvpkohH86rG1h7Wdr3kYV4H5A24wQmUu48yhbm6wbQjLJvMBBMOYh8Yn5TLNBMd6j5rxLf6n9ZAmKNMjuBxE4KGV8eiJfmGYZi-7D7QktmnPre45tK7TU1com7/s320/photo1.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5618231690816829410" /></a></div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">A very tired Micah... all of the poking, exams, </div><div style="text-align: center;">& EEG (notice the impressive hairdo) wore him out.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCU4YgDT1jioP12o8Cn4GhsnIh9n8Bo83a-hLRBqLu-WRGoQs5kTowEhJrvaULE6gC7YaLl7YdVe6x2EBuwDJmng_TrnF3X4BDuY6QNsaJGdjB3mZ79-dN8pDGh8gOG0Z5bHYddp6hz-8/s1600/photo4.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCU4YgDT1jioP12o8Cn4GhsnIh9n8Bo83a-hLRBqLu-WRGoQs5kTowEhJrvaULE6gC7YaLl7YdVe6x2EBuwDJmng_TrnF3X4BDuY6QNsaJGdjB3mZ79-dN8pDGh8gOG0Z5bHYddp6hz-8/s400/photo4.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5618263968208735682" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Our Room</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqIS6RS3Yyxx3v_IupLuRvnaN4hwCk6u8uz0xH_Dp2GMxfiwUsaR00oBrV5E8_yz7q8Qn6XWXPMCmMVbr0OqBl4Jmh-ueX5-F6yKYiOT8FQPhB8_wp4ZGXqClTb6z85__WYUOi5WOTSrA/s1600/photo2.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqIS6RS3Yyxx3v_IupLuRvnaN4hwCk6u8uz0xH_Dp2GMxfiwUsaR00oBrV5E8_yz7q8Qn6XWXPMCmMVbr0OqBl4Jmh-ueX5-F6yKYiOT8FQPhB8_wp4ZGXqClTb6z85__WYUOi5WOTSrA/s400/photo2.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5618263710725488002" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Our Precious Boy</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisvc7TI1lRLASqOBLLKictIYpEuLa3CqEyhtleMrU2e91iWmkvcuKi_l6bwjGSemWuWETSBXDknR713mSnlbLDjmF6tCYUI6WPh-qeV2Fd9QgHi9i8thjTQG0WaR_-mIGgW8r2pvGg0GM/s1600/photo3.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisvc7TI1lRLASqOBLLKictIYpEuLa3CqEyhtleMrU2e91iWmkvcuKi_l6bwjGSemWuWETSBXDknR713mSnlbLDjmF6tCYUI6WPh-qeV2Fd9QgHi9i8thjTQG0WaR_-mIGgW8r2pvGg0GM/s400/photo3.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5618264181014454402" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-3497333892686402512011-05-20T22:42:00.000-07:002011-05-20T22:47:09.029-07:00Jada & Micah Update!<div><div>Jada Update: </div><div></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>Oh my goodness, Jada says the cutest things. We drove down to the Woodburn outlet malls a couple of weekends ago and she had a blast running down the aisles. She would run all the way around the corner, then I'd say, "Jada Faith, come here right now". She'd reply, "Oh okay, Mommy" and promptly book it in my direction. That's my girl! :-) </div><div></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>As we were walking down one of the aisles, she suddenly stopped and started swaying back & forth. "Watcha doin', Jada?", I asked her. "Oh, I just dancin' a little bit, Mommy. Just dancin' a little bit.". How cute is that? </div><div></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>Okay, next story... I'd better give you a little background info. on this one. Many of her toys take batteries and when they're not working very well, she tells us that they need a new battery. So... she's also really into wrestling Daddy, but she's dropkicked him a few times in the ribs (I'm so glad that Mommy's not really associated with the whole wrestling thing!). I'm usually downstairs feeding Micah while this whole wrestling match takes place upstairs. After one such dropkick, I heard a "Ughhh! Ouch, Jada. Daddy has an owee.". She replied with "Uh oh, Daddy. Do you need a battery in your tummy?". Ha ha!</div><div></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>She also has a new pet... Diego the Betta fish. She feeds him twice each day and loves choosing little rocks from outside to give to him (we clean them & place them in his bowl). He is her little responsibility. She's also in charge of opening the backdoor in the morning for Kaya to go potty outside. His smiles are simply amazing and can brighten up any day. He absolutely LOVES to get his diaper changed (a complete difference from Jada as a baby) and smiles even more when I wiggle his legs around and say "run, run, run!". He thinks it's hilarious. :-) This past week, he also started cooing. We take turns "talking" back & forth and he just seems so proud of himself. At 10 weeks old (about a week and a half ago), he even gave me an EIGHT hour night. Eight. That's right... a full night's sleep. Loved it. Usually, it's about 6 hrs. in a row, so I really can't complain. </div><div></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyP_AiapxemMAu6C6dzNFD0FqI9te0OlBNxZBYDDY1tCnpGuN_84iH9LGbnAdAUVcTQYNdgJkGu1ESFjS4lC9ecc-G7JR6YNxoVn0yC1QdsB-9M1KQQz4Fv9n1WDjP-uEbOcsQYHegaNM/s1600/IMG_0386.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyP_AiapxemMAu6C6dzNFD0FqI9te0OlBNxZBYDDY1tCnpGuN_84iH9LGbnAdAUVcTQYNdgJkGu1ESFjS4lC9ecc-G7JR6YNxoVn0yC1QdsB-9M1KQQz4Fv9n1WDjP-uEbOcsQYHegaNM/s400/IMG_0386.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609029667376884690" /></a></div><div></div><div>Our kiddos keep us very busy. I'm proud to report that he's a great little eater, sleeper & as of about a week ago, smiler. :-) He has the most adorable smile; it's so rewarding, as a parent, to see precious, tiny eyes brighten up as a huge smile extends across a baby's sweet face. The best time to get him to smile is right after he wakes up and I unswaddle him. Aww. My sweet boy. </div><div><br /></div><div>According to my bathroom scale, he's currently 11.5 lbs. (way to go, little man!). At less than 5 weeks old (the night before), he slept for 6 hours straight at night! He's only done that a few times since then; most of the time he gives me about 4-5 hour stretches - still pretty amazing. </div><div><br /></div><div>At 3 weeks old, he started doing little pushups off of my chest and it remains one of his favorite activities. A few times each day, he performs his mini-exercises which includes pushups off of my chest, leg presses off of my lap (as he's laying on my chest), and turns his head side to side. He voluntarily performs these exercises & actually, if he's a little cranky, it puts him in a good mood. Overall, he's a very easygoing baby. He's incredibly laid back and has the sweetest personality. </div><div><br /></div><div>Miss Jada is an excellent big sister. We've had a few jealous moments, but most of the time, she's great at sharing and loving on her little brother. Today, she walked up to him and, in a quiet voice and completely unprompted, said "I love you, baby Micah". Oh my goodness. That just melts a mommy's heart. </div><div><br /></div><div>I'm so blessed to have the most incredible husband and two most precious kiddos ever. I love my family. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here's a picture of our family of four (wow... family of four) on my 28th birthday, last Saturday. </div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcHKjWlDtVXMPuNFcm7Ph3Y3z5l2WaH-lgDx6_PUcaZpsvHI4xyJHILbw-Q2adjd7q6lNJc4_lyV4fsqEhFOdI4yxsDwBo1XJfApt7zaoEZZyPzRDhHLt3LgNZH8GT69kqw-uzFPFadf_j/s1600/My+28th+Birthday.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcHKjWlDtVXMPuNFcm7Ph3Y3z5l2WaH-lgDx6_PUcaZpsvHI4xyJHILbw-Q2adjd7q6lNJc4_lyV4fsqEhFOdI4yxsDwBo1XJfApt7zaoEZZyPzRDhHLt3LgNZH8GT69kqw-uzFPFadf_j/s320/My+28th+Birthday.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599380585240496882" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-64482269368589256822011-03-08T21:01:00.000-08:002011-03-08T21:49:10.451-08:00Introducing... He was born on 3/2/11 (pretty awesome birthday, huh?) @ 9:37pm. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 9 oz. & was 19.5" in length. He is such an easy-going, content, sweet baby boy. His little days are full of sleeping, nursing, cuddling, looking around for a few minutes, pooping, then sleeping again; this little cycle happens about every 2.5-3 hrs. :-)<br /><br />His first doctor appointment was yesterday morning (5 days old) and he's already weighing in at 7 lbs. 8.5oz! That's quite impressive considering that the goal is to be back to birth weight by 2 weeks of age & he's almost there at 5 days; I'm proud of my good little eater.<br /><br />Wondering how Wednesday went? Here's the story...<br /><br />I woke up at 4:30am with contractions every 10 minutes lasting about 1 minute each for about an hour. I called the hospital at 5:30am & spoke to a triage nurse in Labor & Delivery. She told me to come on in. My next call was to my sister, Annie, who stayed with Jada while we were in the hospital. She packed up right away & hopped onto I-5. I then called my good friend, Kathleen (THANK YOU again, Kathleen!) to come over to watch Jada for us while my sister drove up from Eugene. I'm SO thankful for awesome friends and sisters who don't mind sacrificing their sleep/plans to help us out in the wee morning hours.<br /><br />Gabe & I quickly finished packing our hospital bags & took off. It was much different driving to the hospital in clear weather instead of the crazy snow storm that we drove through when Jada was born. I was starting to get worried because the contractions started to slow down. When I checked in, I was 4cm dilated (I was 3cm just a few days previous at my last prenatal appt.) & my contractions were becoming further apart & less painful. The nurse monitored the contractions and Micah's heart rate. The contractions weren't too impressive, so she asked me to walk around the hall for an hour then we would see if I made any progress.<br /><br />We spent the next 50 minutes or so walking the Labor & Delivery loop about 20 times. My legs were cramping up and that lovely round ligament pain kicked in, but I was stubborn & really wanted to see some progress, so we kept walking. After the hour, I was still at 4cm, so she told me that I had to go home and wait for the contractions to become more intense again. By then, my sister was arriving in Beaverton & taking over for Kathleen. I really didn't want to go home because I was afraid that I would either start having contractions again and have to rush to the hospital and not have time for an epidural (can you tell I love epidurals?) or I would come back to the hospital once they were more intense then just get sent home again. Anyway, the nurse hooked me back up to the monitors and told me that they would just watch my contractions & his heart rate for a few more minutes before I went back home. After a couple minutes, my contractions picked up just a little & Micah's heart rate dipped a little... not enough to be too worried, but low enough to require more monitoring. Yay - thanks, Micah! The nurse came back into the room and said, "You just won yourself an induction". Whoo hoo! It was time to have a baby!<br /><br />My doctor wasn't able to take care of me that day, but Dr. Wentross was the on-call doctor and she's wonderful. She broke my water at about 12:30pm to help get things going. When I was in labor with Jada, my contractions became A LOT stronger once my water was broken. This time it did help, but honestly, my contractions just felt like really bad cramps... nothing terribly impressive. At 3pm, we decided to start a small dose of Oxytocin to see if it would jumpstart my body into labor-mode. I was starting to develop a headache by then because I hadn't really eaten anything since my grilled chicken salad 22 hours before that (it wasn't holding me over very well). Dr. Wentross told me that I could order something really lite from the menu to help give me some energy. I ordered 2 potato rolls & a banana. I seriously felt like a new person after those few calories & was ready to get the party started. The oxytocin drip started at 4:15pm at 2 (not sure exactly what that breaks down to, but I know that it said "2" on the machine). We increased the dose to "4" and that's when things started picking up.<br /><br />At 4:30pm, Gabe was getting pretty hungry, so I told him that he could go downstairs and grab a burger but to please just eat it down there, so that I wouldn't smell the deliciousness in our room. :-) I was feeling good enough to be okay on my own for a little while, at that point. When he was downstairs, my nurse told me that I could order some Jell-O, which sounded amazing, so I ordered that for my "dinner". At 5pm, the contractions were reaching the point to where I was clenching my fists & crying with each one, so I texted Gabe between contractions "Contractions are getting stronger - might get epidural soon. Oh, & I ordered Jell-O :-)". He walked in the door about 30 seconds after I sent it. The next 15 minutes or so were filled with painful contractions that were quickly becoming more intense. I went ahead & asked for my epidural thinking that it would be another 45-60 min. before the anesthesiologist would show up (that's how long it took with Jada), but I was pleasantly surprised when he arrived in about 15 min. After the epidural kicked in, I felt SO much better. Initially, it was pretty numbing, but then it tapered off to the point where I could move my legs around & could still feel the contractions, but they just felt like bad cramps; the edge was taken off. Hooray for epidurals!<br /><br />Because of my challenging labor & delivery with Jada (pushed for 3 hrs. & 13 min.), I decided to wait until I felt like I absolutely HAD to push (spontaneous pushing instead of coached pushing) before even attempting this time. Even though I was at 10cm at about 8:45pm, I waited until 9:20 (that's when I actually wanted to start pushing) to start. I pushed one time at 9:25, at which point the nurse told me to stop pushing because she needed to grab the doctor. <div><br /></div><div>A few seconds later, Jessica (my nurse), walked back into the room with a woman who introduced herself as Helen (an awesome certified nurse midwife). She said, "Hi, I'm Helen. Dr. Stewart's delivering another baby down the hall (by then, the on-call doctor had changed), so I'm filling in. I'm so happy to be a part of this with you. I'll just be over here washing my hands. Just push when your body tells you to push & don't push if it doesn't. I'm ready to catch your baby whenever it happens". She was so sweet. I pushed once & she asked if I wanted to touch his head, so I did. I expected him to be barely crowning, but then I realized that his entire head was out. I started crying out of joy & pushed again & I watched her just guide his shoulders out. She then looked at Gabe & said "Can you grab him for me? Just grab him right here and pull." Gabe helped deliver Micah & it was just so perfect.<br /><br />What a blessing to witness such a miracle!<br /><br /><br />Jada is adjusting very well to being an older sister. She loves helping Mommy take care of baby Micah. Here's a cute little video of her helping. :-)<br /><br /><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="510" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4m3oBU1AkkE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br /><br />Here are some precious pictures of Micah's first 6 days of life...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTx6oGfRvI24OlvtH28XEVaQX1R0BitfzmvkM-xG5IT7fWN3JivgAb3dHGKvbf3HVBuztI8TcxLwC7YRHO71K206QZ2Rsf9wLxZ_Q8Xs6gANUCghbXKjOq7EOWHXg1-oSsrVLTK0Q-PWw/s1600/IMG_7128.jpg"><img style="display:block; We're loving the visitors that are stopping by to meet our new little man and are planning a couple of fun outings too. We had lunch today at Out of This World Pizza (a fun indoor playground in Hillsboro that serves pizza & ice cream) and are planning on going to the Children's Museum on Thursday. </div><div><br /></div><div>We are so blessed. I'm so proud of her. <br /><br />We headed over to IKEA yesterday morning with Aunt Mariah (she's visiting us for the weekend) and picked out Jada's very first big girl bed. She was SO excited when we got home that she just played the entire afternoon on the mattress. This afternoon, Gabe put the bed together and the whole time Jada was dancing around the room saying "Big Girl Bed! Jada's Big Girl Bed!". After it was all together, she exclaimed, "Daddy made Jada's big girl bed! Thank you, Daddy! Thank you!". She's so proud to be a big girl. <br /><br />I know she's 2, and a lot of her friends have been in toddler beds for a while now, but it feels like such a big milestone. I can't believe how fast she's growing up. Everyday is just so amazing - she develops new words and skills with every day that goes by. I am so blessed to have her in my life. Goodnight, my big girl. <br /><br />Happy girl on her big girl bed! <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiieTmUDYKbmqPQyp56mqn_x2bFOtu6Z0P03iVTq0TxP2IY_vErYOvGBxi9-56G89V1L_Dz-Ox5HqbaJmgd55wYC7VT0dMoDonnLgCPGZaqfrHraGSoPiPJWgvA39dR3_h6wlRPSOUycps/s1600/IMG_0071.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiieTmUDYKbmqPQyp56mqn_x2bFOtu6Z0P03iVTq0TxP2IY_vErYOvGBxi9-56G89V1L_Dz-Ox5HqbaJmgd55wYC7VT0dMoDonnLgCPGZaqfrHraGSoPiPJWgvA39dR3_h6wlRPSOUycps/s400/IMG_0071.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5560404652262800226" /></a><br /><br />After her last nap in her crib...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN_NtBOR4u1H5soISDq3BAy9FYV1WWiGug2gEpAwPb2SIIX2PFOssnQyS4MRJjIM3ZCbztjtNjBH_AKn4St5FV3iynzqiCcWjXoFEhoXfpaM3HGYkQBCf1q0Lgo-M4vN1Pd-lHPz4taek/s1600/IMG_0060.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN_NtBOR4u1H5soISDq3BAy9FYV1WWiGug2gEpAwPb2SIIX2PFOssnQyS4MRJjIM3ZCbztjtNjBH_AKn4St5FV3iynzqiCcWjXoFEhoXfpaM3HGYkQBCf1q0Lgo-M4vN1Pd-lHPz4taek/s400/IMG_0060.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5560405186162775106" /></a><br /><br />How she was sleeping when I went in her room this morning to wake her up (just had to share!)...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhAFF4zDzpYUOdZ5vcaMXjg0WzjzcJiVel3COYXlnZ5goFAPSXuX1Y0Yv2baET03VdB4GmUJLiE7WjUc_T2RlYKeB-UIX6oopEV2LBQ3DSZaJAAG0geB5mkxyqHX0yj_S3n1PtNs4m2P8/s1600/IMG_0059.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhAFF4zDzpYUOdZ5vcaMXjg0WzjzcJiVel3COYXlnZ5goFAPSXuX1Y0Yv2baET03VdB4GmUJLiE7WjUc_T2RlYKeB-UIX6oopEV2LBQ3DSZaJAAG0geB5mkxyqHX0yj_S3n1PtNs4m2P8/s400/IMG_0059.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5560404263997317298" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-54344382141019401422011-01-04T20:09:00.000-08:002011-01-04T20:18:04.381-08:00Jada's iPad SkillsI think it's crazy how kids these days (wow, I'm sounding old) can figure out technology so quickly. Jada not only knows how to unlock my iPhone, but she can scroll through the pages of apps, find her "Kitty the Cat" storybook, click on it, and read along... all in about 15 seconds when I leave the room to grab something. And she just turned 2. Crazy. <br /><br />Here she is playing with Daddy's iPad. It's her new favorite toy (she only plays with it while extremely supervised!). There are actually a ton of really cool, educational apps out there, such as this Toddler ABCs app. <br /><br />Enjoy!<br /><br /><iframe width="480" height="295" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5Bxi1xXV1u4?fs=1" frameborder="0"></iframe>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-65737465702368474292010-12-08T21:27:00.000-08:002010-12-08T22:27:47.983-08:00Carter Family UpdateOh my. It's been 3 months since my last blog update... sorry about that. <div><br /></div><div>Our family is doing fantastic; the past 3 months have been incredibly busy, but it's been awesome. God is SO good and has provided incredible opportunities for us. Due to the upcoming arrival of baby Micah (only 12-13 weeks from now!), I'm changing my business structure a bit to allow myself to work fewer hours, play more of an administrative role, & (hopefully) produce more of a passive income. God has given me a handful of fun, new bookkeeping clients over the past couple of months and two independent contractors that will become a part of my team within the next couple of weeks. I'm also working on e-publishing a guide for moms who want to produce a steady income from home without sacrificing time with their family; it's been a super fun project for me & I'm hoping to launch it as of 1/1/11. </div><div><br /></div><div>Gabe has been crazy busy with work over the past 6 weeks; November marks the beginning of Open Enrollment in the insurance industry, so he's been traveling a lot. Now that December is here, he's able to settle back into a (somewhat) normal schedule and be at home at nights again (whoo hoo!). </div><div><br /></div><div>Jada will be 2 years old in only 12 days; where has the time gone? She is such a huge blessing in our lives. She's a joyful bundle of energy; she loves to physically tackle everything, sing her ABCs (minus the "L,M,N, O" section... that's always pretty tough), count to 10 (except 8... we're working on that!), spin in circles, color, jump, and play with friends. She tries to do everything that Mommy and Daddy do; it's pretty sweet. Tonight, we were watching church on UStream and we let her stay up for the worship portion. We were singing, "How Great is Our God" & she echoed "OUR GOD!!!" in a happy, beaming tone. I just love her. </div><div><br /></div><div>Micah is an active little guy, which I absolutely love. He's happy (okay, I'm assuming that one), healthy, and we are SO incredibly excited to meet him. His room is slowly but surely coming together. Once we move the hide-a-bed ("we" as in Gabe and another strong guy), we can start clearing out the rest of the room and begin painting. Oh yeah, another amazing blessing from God... I won free paint from a friend's blog last month, so Micah's paint for his room is absolutely FREE! Amazing. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here are some fun pictures of our past few months: </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgximz1DbIe-DzLrPmVUJ98ub8uHu32dz2OzMhlqW_ZAEQ0aLRxCPrHm7OmqamGmqj2o27ohIMLJ5QRLqTwDXXAIN7MX-vVTfsP-1MC-sNIkmupIy85seWFLvFvY0ffjZl9DeHr8LPEQxo/s1600/IMG_5738.JPG"><img style="display:block; If you haven't heard of them, you should really check them out (www.portlandstriderbikes.com). Not only can children as young as 18 months old ride them, but they teach kids the balance & coordination that's needed to ride a bike - most Strider riders can transition right into a big-kid bike without ever using training wheels! These bikes don't have pedals; instead, kids can walk/run/stride to propel the bike forward & can pick up their feet to just glide along. </div><div><br /></div><div>Brianne already had an appointment with the owner of Portland Strider Bikes this afternoon & she invited us to come along. Jada & Rowen tried out the bikes together and both totally fell in love. They were naturals. Rowen chose the blue bike & Jada chose the green bike. </div><div><br /></div><div>What big kids. I'm so proud of my Jada Bear. This will be extra motivation to get outside for some exercise as the rain and cold weather is quickly approaching. Good for Jada and Mommy. :-)</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigmra7lcUlC2VfMjgPwIGpat4Py0LrqbmkG4peLlUuGllC4_WiXHPWViwX_bxcTgcEIzbfaIjXbecU8VMbcL5f1SJuVLPmDIqL277FuvOs_OY6O2iCFsCHEuce6hTS04k-UHmM8cyN5FQ/s1600/IMG_5024.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigmra7lcUlC2VfMjgPwIGpat4Py0LrqbmkG4peLlUuGllC4_WiXHPWViwX_bxcTgcEIzbfaIjXbecU8VMbcL5f1SJuVLPmDIqL277FuvOs_OY6O2iCFsCHEuce6hTS04k-UHmM8cyN5FQ/s400/IMG_5024.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518081976617236754" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-36443728096979524732010-09-14T20:11:00.000-07:002010-09-14T21:28:30.523-07:00Jada Update!<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><span><span>Wow, it has been quite a while since I've updated our blog! I thought I'd document some of the cute phrases she currently says because I'm sure they'll be changing before we know it. </span></span><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><b>Current Jada isms: </b><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>"Hoh-dit" (translation: "Hold it" or "May I hold it, Mom?")</span></span></div><div><br /></div><div><span><span>"Upeez" (translation: "Up Please" or "Please pick me up")</span></span></div><div><br /></div><div><span><span>"Elmo Deece" (translation: "Elmo Dance" or "I'd like to watch a YouTube video of Sesame Street")</span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div>"Mommy Deece" (translation: "Mommy Dance" or "Mommy, will you dance with me?" This is commonly said in a public setting or while eating.)</div><div><br /></div><div>"Do It" (translation: "I'd like to do this on my own; I don't need any help.")</div><div><br /></div><div>"Eat It" (translation: "I think I'd like to eat this". This is usually said as she places something non-edible into her mouth.)</div><div><br /></div><div>"See Yee Daddy" (translation: "Silly Daddy". This is always said with a huge, proud grin)</div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>"Uh-Oh [insert subject here]!" (translation: "My toy/food/shoe/whatever just fell down. Will you please pick it up for me?")</span></span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span><span>On the educational front, she can officially count to 2 and understands the concept of counting! She was dividing up dog food pieces between Aunt Annie's two dogs (also utilizing her "Eat It" skills - see above) and with every piece that she divided, she counted out "One...Two...One...Two...One...Two...". I'm so proud. </span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>She can identify the letters P, R, Q, B, I, T, A, D, K, O & Y. She can sound out P "P says puh, puh, Papa" and R "R says rrr, rrr, Rowen". Yesterday, as we were driving down the road, there was a Parr Lumber advertisement on a bus stop. She saw the PARR and said "R! R!". I was so proud. </span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>When we sing our ABCs, she sings along a little. When we stop, she'll sometimes take off from where we left off. For example, tonight I sang "a b c d e f g" then she said "h i j kaaay..... P!". On her own, she just gets to e, then smiles and says, "Mommy ABCs" which means she wants me to sing it instead. Tonight, we broke out the ABC flash cards & she had a blast. I would show her the "A" card & she said "A... apple!" (there was a picture of an apple). Then she would say "More! More!". She's so hungry to learn right now. </span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>Her imagination is incredible. When we're reading a book, she'll pretend to pick up the items in the pictures and give them to us. For example, if there's a picture of corn, she'll pretend to pick it up, then will hand it to me and say, "Mommy, eat it. Corn". She also loves "feeding" her babies and stuffed animals. </span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>She can verbally identify various body parts, most recently including the pinky & thumb. Her favorite toys are stickers (SOOO cool, although she recently discovered that they stick on any service, not just the plain piece of paper that I give her) and a funky yellow chair that we bought at a garage sale for $2. </span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div>Here's a cute video of her playing in the fountains at Magnolia Park yesterday. She was a little cautious at first, but after she was soaked, she just wanted "More! More!". :-)</div><div><br /></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwlvc_KVcQqYxizk_DiZ07hRGHNp0_PdQd9Z4_Jt3avFQdyrn07PTwUuMk-sI-a0KdRWN42ddzCOd4JC2XZeQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div><div><span><span>She is such a delight and we are so blessed to have sweet Jada in our lives. </span></span></div></div></div>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-87745750985488420532010-08-12T21:44:00.000-07:002010-08-12T21:58:08.117-07:00Baby Carter 2.0We're having another BABY! We are so blessed and so excited to meet our new little one. Our due date is March 10th, which means that I'm at 10 weeks along today. We saw our sweet baby for the first time earlier this afternoon. "Baby Tummy" (Jada's name for baby) was very active - moving everywhere and waving hands all around. We scheduled our anatomical ultrasound too - October 15th is the big day! Can't wait to find out if Miss Jada is having a little brother or a little sister! <br /><br />Here's our sweet baby - <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNrj2CIkjtuU0wBO3RtsWRenuTgXBGhEAfK3P5X82GAQ0DTKHf0_vWGE5159af-5jyFsxZ_P_u-sc3cKEwwMXGx9b6rHpOUs-Q4mf-Rz5Chxj1EOrYULuSDk7dW4XqdEiNyurHijsJTZk/s1600/Baby+Carter+2.0+-+First+Picture+.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 353px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNrj2CIkjtuU0wBO3RtsWRenuTgXBGhEAfK3P5X82GAQ0DTKHf0_vWGE5159af-5jyFsxZ_P_u-sc3cKEwwMXGx9b6rHpOUs-Q4mf-Rz5Chxj1EOrYULuSDk7dW4XqdEiNyurHijsJTZk/s400/Baby+Carter+2.0+-+First+Picture+.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504753137164625938" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3336819379972327054.post-54081920076729696102010-07-13T21:12:00.000-07:002010-07-13T21:12:23.033-07:00Dance! We had an awesome time hanging out with aunts, uncles, and cousins. I absolutely loved getting to know Gabe's family better & Jada had a blast playing with everyone... especially her second cousin, Daniela. :-) Here are some pictures of our weekend.

<br />Jada was found sporting the "sunscreen layered with dirt, then layered with popsicle juices, followed by more sunscreen" look most of the weekend.

Jada & I were honored to be able to visit baby Charlotte on Wednesday morning then take her big brother home with us for the day for a super fun playdate. Jada & Rowen chased each other up and down the hall, played with puzzles together, rode on Jada's Dora car together (& when I say together, I mean both sitting on the seat at the same time - ha ha!), and even took naps at the same time for me! Whoo hoo! Here are pictures of them hanging out. <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidOqQCJGPOV1K345bH2ZYPokSiYoj-66PDjVonMp8gGJR0FHdxLMQHjV56bFtCrAFeb0recv2uVHUnEM9rRsOqH1Kl80pvbwNTOIpXP0jiaSu14ERhcHVeZvDAH2qJJXdIYlYgQQiOlKs/s1600/Rowen+%26+Jada+on+car.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidOqQCJGPOV1K345bH2ZYPokSiYoj-66PDjVonMp8gGJR0FHdxLMQHjV56bFtCrAFeb0recv2uVHUnEM9rRsOqH1Kl80pvbwNTOIpXP0jiaSu14ERhcHVeZvDAH2qJJXdIYlYgQQiOlKs/s400/Rowen+%26+Jada+on+car.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5482470991837653522" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT5XyWilM46YuJzq79Fswg7LTi0IvVveqMB7G4WReHasgE130I_3HO2InlMgtxRit3QbTDYsaE0zARgWEhLf3tCi10BFPEy521PVEmggYRwAKBhj0T9WuDPpKdN2IhEKg5A5YX_NPx7ls/s1600/Rowen+%26+Jada+sitting+in+char.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT5XyWilM46YuJzq79Fswg7LTi0IvVveqMB7G4WReHasgE130I_3HO2InlMgtxRit3QbTDYsaE0zARgWEhLf3tCi10BFPEy521PVEmggYRwAKBhj0T9WuDPpKdN2IhEKg5A5YX_NPx7ls/s400/Rowen+%26+Jada+sitting+in+char.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5482470930764571042" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLPpAJENWzBuIKPw9x9hQAVvbnN2RdxM5Bm1N9iFaHMkUPZ74kxgMdsZZIGCupGNFiTnLAmvC8WAjGUJnpgTEtA-dGGBUCpCw5o21DW6Wjo4VvwDkmoaitoKcvvQeexr9b50Xjc1n_VC0/s1600/open+mouth.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLPpAJENWzBuIKPw9x9hQAVvbnN2RdxM5Bm1N9iFaHMkUPZ74kxgMdsZZIGCupGNFiTnLAmvC8WAjGUJnpgTEtA-dGGBUCpCw5o21DW6Wjo4VvwDkmoaitoKcvvQeexr9b50Xjc1n_VC0/s400/open+mouth.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5482470788429874498" /></a><br /><br />Gabe & I decided that we want to get back into riding our bikes this summer, so we picked up a bike trailer for Jada this past week. It's pretty funny because she doesn't watch Sesame Street; in fact, she doesn't even watch TV. She just fell in love with this Elmo doll that we walked past at Target a couple weeks ago. When she saw it she asked, "What's that?" (which sounds like a single word - "Wussat?"). We answered, "Elmo". She held him in the shopping cart & hasn't let go since. From then on, this bright red, furry baby doll-thing was her precious Elmo. <br /><br />As you can imagine, when we saw that our favorite coffee shop/indoor playground, Munchkin Playland, was hosting a "Meet & Greet with Elmo" party, we simply couldn't pass it up. We signed up right away and counted down the days until Miss Jada would meet the real Elmo in person. <br /><br />At first, she was a little concerned with this large Elmo fellow. For the first 20 min, she wanted to look at him and blow him kisses, but didn't want to leave our arms. After a while, she warmed up to him & sat on his lap. She wanted to share her little Elmo doll with him on various occasions (we're pretty sure that her love language is giving gifts - she's always sharing her food, toys, and water with her dolls - that's our thoughtful little girl!). <br /><br />Here are a few pictures from this fun little Elmo party:<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixAcU9cq9suKz2lE2zGzSrL29QLN7b4VyyMNC3zATlj3a-qxhGX4iAVDz1yKRb_90hOcBfMhmwjV5b0c-rAJlcq3obeVqhoI8Lr6IqNcVq64md9uAo1VVJhGQ0ML29H3qwuip9KtIhwL8/s1600/IMG_3447.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixAcU9cq9suKz2lE2zGzSrL29QLN7b4VyyMNC3zATlj3a-qxhGX4iAVDz1yKRb_90hOcBfMhmwjV5b0c-rAJlcq3obeVqhoI8Lr6IqNcVq64md9uAo1VVJhGQ0ML29H3qwuip9KtIhwL8/s400/IMG_3447.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480246911024372274" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdd4J-QSQsh2IGm_xzBCEbIDbO3G-IJ-4NnBhC1bRLWHPY7uS_AFGXQTrQJmdT9TcHoKml0hLG8eFtInrMda_jwqkRfD1VSWpVHVpuu0BqbFEumqe7adeaxWJEAOd1jwkhFqoxGrWW3s4/s1600/IMG_3441.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdd4J-QSQsh2IGm_xzBCEbIDbO3G-IJ-4NnBhC1bRLWHPY7uS_AFGXQTrQJmdT9TcHoKml0hLG8eFtInrMda_jwqkRfD1VSWpVHVpuu0BqbFEumqe7adeaxWJEAOd1jwkhFqoxGrWW3s4/s400/IMG_3441.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480246547591946018" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA1_Rbc_oBFI5kNmOPApMa_nuMfBe4m92DyPQSsci8RuNVisVf6CEu0JPaJKL-OCUYYQHPUxynxciFd0hm0DUSRlkFzNe-eM1F-EU-AE0qevzM8Jl5MAhNtBrcOUlnOSEcLrvj6T_MSso/s1600/Elmo+and+Jada.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA1_Rbc_oBFI5kNmOPApMa_nuMfBe4m92DyPQSsci8RuNVisVf6CEu0JPaJKL-OCUYYQHPUxynxciFd0hm0DUSRlkFzNe-eM1F-EU-AE0qevzM8Jl5MAhNtBrcOUlnOSEcLrvj6T_MSso/s400/Elmo+and+Jada.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480246106245122530" /></a>Gabe, Amber, Jada and Micah Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13048280443537954681noreply@blogger.com2
